Builders Fund endorses Marie Gluesenkamp Perez for Congress
The Amaury Abreu Builders Fund endorses Marie Gluesenkamp Perez for Congress in Washington's 3rd District.
Her record starts in her own shop. Gluesenkamp Perez co-owns an independent auto repair and machine shop with her husband, built from the ground up into a six-bay operation with living-wage trades jobs. She is the only repair shop owner in Congress and co-chairs the Blue Dog Coalition, and she has said that navigating the SBA loan process and being unable to afford health insurance shaped her decision to run.
On right to repair, she is an original cosponsor of the REPAIR Act (H.R. 1566, 119th Congress), which would bar automakers from blocking owners and independent shops from the vehicle data used for diagnosis and repair. The bill carries 43 cosponsors, 22 Democrats and 21 Republicans, and the Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Subcommittee forwarded it to the full committee by voice vote on February 10, 2026. She is the lead sponsor of the Fairness for the Trades Act (H.R. 808), which would let 529 education savings pay for trade tools and equipment; its only two cosponsors are both Republicans. She co-led the SPUR Act with Representative Pete Stauber, a Republican, which passed the House in 2024 and would require the SBA scorecard to count how many new small businesses win their first federal prime contract each year. She also leads the Expanding Child Care in Rural America Act, with cosponsors split evenly between the parties, and co-led the Student Debt Alternative and CTE Awareness Act with Representative Roger Williams, a Republican from Texas.
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is a Democrat whose small business bills keep drawing Republican partners. This is a builder's record, and this is the kind of record the Builders Fund exists to recognize.
